Abu Dhabi Trade Platform Launches Digital Air Cargo Solutions

As part of the ongoing efforts to accelerate the digitalization of Abu Dhabi’s trade and logistics landscape and enhance Advanced Trade and Logistics Platform (ATLP) capabilities, Maqta Gateway, the digital arm of AD Ports Group, has introduced digital air freight solutions.

Developed in close collaboration with key partners such as Abu Dhabi Airports, Etihad Airport Services and Etihad Cargo, the digital air cargo solutions will streamline the movement of air cargo shipments to and from Abu Dhabi’s five airports, according to an official statement.

Beyond digitizing and simplifying air cargo processing, ATLP’s latest solutions will reduce wait times by 80%, improve delivery times through customs integration, improve visibility of track and trace, introduce digital payment channels and improve warehouse utilization through an automated appointment system.

In addition to reducing the amount of documentation needed for air cargo shipments by 90%, the new services can also reduce unnecessary trips to the airport by 80% for air cargo agents. This, in turn, will reduce the time required for the entire process from 1 hour to just six minutes, and document scanning will improve staff efficiency by 50%.

In the case of exports, the new service will reduce the processing time by 25% (80 to 60 minutes) while for imports, the time required will be reduced by 20% (67 to 54 minutes). ATLP’s latest additions will also reduce truck wait times by 50%.

To ensure the successful implementation of these new solutions, Maqta Gateway recently signed an agreement with Etihad Aviation Group to deploy these digital solutions to all customers, partners and stakeholders active in the air cargo industry.

Inaugurated in May 2020 by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, ATLP is the first of its kind in the region. It is developed and operated by Maqta Gateway under the supervision of the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi and aims to integrate and facilitate the operations of the trade and logistics sectors, and to connect maritime, land, air, industrial areas and frank to all authorities regulating these activities.
